Soprano, Nicole Blom

Nicole blomSoprano, Nicole Blom, a native of Vancouver, joined the Burnaby Symphony Orchestra for their 2006 Christmas Dinner Gala. In October 2006, she had the pleasure of doing The Sunday Afternoon Recital series with Burnaby Lyric Opera. Nicole had the opportunity to attend the New York Opera Studio program run by Nico and Carol Castel, as well as attended the Richard Armstrong's Intensive Voice workshop in Banff. She also performed during 2006 in The Merry Widow as Sylvaine with Burnaby Lyric Opera. Other roles for Burnaby Lyric Opera include Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro and Bertha in The Barber of Seville.

Nicole performed in concerts, opera excerpts and Master Classes while attending the Intensive Programme at Opera Nuova in 2004 & 2005. Her awards include the Kiwanis Music Festival Scholarship, Mrs. Josephine Jordan Memorial Scholarship in 2003 and "The Taylore T. Fox Scholarship" Most Promising Female Vocalist in Opera Classes for the years 2006, 2003 & 2002. She has preformed in the Chorus for Elixir of Love, La Cenerentola (Burnaby Lyric Opera), Idomeneo, and The Tales of Hoffman (Vancouver Academy of Music). Nicole has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Guelph and is currently studying voice with LindaMarie James.
